It's pretty scary: the prospect of having to choose what we perceive as our best work. What are the qualifiers? I think about this a lot, actually. For me, the work I've chosen to represent me as an artist, is that which I find myself the most connected to. The videos that I want others to watch over and over: to feel something. They're the stories I want to share the most with people, and sometimes for reasons I want them to figure out. I like to make people think, because when we don't have to chew the content we consume, we lose something.
In July of 2021, Ryan Mangan, writer of the new Vermont play: Second Sight; or, The Way of Holiness, reached out to me looking to collaborate on a documentary featuring the second workshop of his show. With all three sold-out performances at the Cadwell family barn in Chittenden and only a few rehearsals, we filmed in a tight schedule over three days to capture as much as we could. With a stellar and enjoyable group to work with, the workshop closed to glowing reception.

In Spring of 2019, Castleton University put on the musical Catch Me If You Can in cooperation with communication students in order to create projections for the show. The class had been hired to put together the animated projections, and so, students were not only collaborating on a multi-departmental level, they were held to an even higher professional standard.

During the Summer of 2016, I was working at Dorset Theatre Festival and was primarily tasked with creating promotional trailers + materials for each production. Table Manners was the very first show I worked on there, and to this day is one of my favorite shows to have captured on both photo and video. This trailer primarily focused on the high energy + fun that cast was having with the show during the first week of rehearsals.

In the Fall of 2022, my cousin Cam (an incredibly talented musician) reached out to me about documenting his big senior recital he had put together with the help of his peers, featuring them as well. With a packed-house at Castleton University, we utilized a simple one-camera setup, with an audio hookup directly to the stage. This is a pretty typical recording for events, but if needed an additional camera could've been added for a secondary angle.

A quick video test shoot of a beloved family I photograph often. During a warm sunny evening, Eric & Hannah and their adorable kiddos stopped by my house where we walked out to a field to document them all together. The session was a hybrid session, where half of the time spent was capturing photos, and the other half video. With that being said, any future couple/family videos I shoot will definitely not have the time split, and will be focused on video.

Cydney came to me at the end of her senior year looking for help putting together her one woman, senior show. One important piece of the performance was a music video featuring music written and performed by her older sister. With only about 2.5 hours to film due to COVID restrictions, we did what we could to create a video that far exceeded all of our expectations for the time we had. Combining the talents of fellow Castleton students and a few faculty members, this is what we poured ourselves into.

When putting together the trailer for Cydney's senior show, one of the lines from videotapes recorded in her childhood was a younger version of herself asking her father: "do you want to see the story of me?" This became the overarching theme of her show, which was an element we wanted to capture in the trailer when promoting it. Other components included: clips that were used alongside raw narration, music video snapshots, and segments of video and voice-over from her childhood tapes.

After the successful reception of the Catch Me If You Can collaboration video, I still had endless amounts of unused footage that I wanted to incorporate into a video of some kind. After a little music soul-searching and finding some favorite clips, the two were tied together in a fun theatrical music video of the show.

COUNT ME IN
If you like how I've crafted my work, let's get the conversation going. Just like with every piece of content produced, it has to start from somewhere. Even if it's a mere floating spark of what you're looking for, we can create something great from it. We can start with how things may look, or sound, or feel to those whose eyes will light up when what we've created comes alive. And maybe they'll lose their socks in the process.

Martin is the absolute best person to work with! Not only is he open to any ideas you have to make your vision come to life, he finds ways to make it better and brings his own ideas and creativity to the table. I worked with Martin on something extremely personal; my One Women Show at the end of my college career. It was all complete vulnerability and he provided me ways to not only showcase what I wanted, but to make it better then I could have ever imagined. My creative dreams came to life thanks to him.

From the moment we Martin's work we could tell he was extremely talented, but what we came to learn is that along with his talent there was an unmatched professionalism and attention to detail. He responded to all of our texts promptly, set up a virtual meet and greet to get the layout of what we wanted, and was priced competitively. You will get much more than you bargain for with his service! Martin's sense of humor too! Just a naturally funny guy and he made us feel relaxed on a crazy hectic day. Also, his SKILLS straight-up, Martin is a true artist. His ability to use light effectively in challenging lighting scenarios is phenomenal.
